Please explain your day-to-day role at Nifty Package.
My day to day at Nifty is fun, different and unique daily just like our clients and staff! Some days are all product and gift creation, and gift wrap creation. As a person, I am pretty disciplined in daily having a list that I created the day before. Other days I am client facing and talking with the staff at Nifty. I am up at 4:45 am, praying, visualizing, reading my bible, working out or walking then hitting the ground running. I have a shop and work from home so I have the blessing of either one and diversity of location. Then I close the day on who did I bless today? Did I do a good job? Did I meet my expectations, my staff and clients expectations? Did I give it 120% and believe in miracles?
How did you arrive at Nifty Package?
I started Nifty in 2015 after being out of the workforce for 13 years. I had lost my husband to cancer the year prior and still finished out my last year running a non-profit where we fed over 73,000 people yearly. I had to create an income and had fully depended on my husband never thinking I would lose him when I was 50. I had no idea what I was doing but what I did know is that as I interviewed, hearing the commitment needed for these roles that I would be fulfilling their mission and had tunnel vision and saw my children still at home and a new grandchild coming. I just thought, is there a way to create a business where I could work when I could and not because I had to and teach other women to do the same? Basically the Uber of Gifting working remote. One of my sons said, “Mom, you had a gift business when you were young, why not do that again?” So, I thought about it, prayed about it and viola, Nifty started and I had a wonderful team who supported my idea. I love to give and it makes both the client and recipient happy, how wonderful is that!
What motivates you most to achieve business success?
Is your blueprint for success based, in some way, on role models?
Yes, Mary Kay, Jesus Christ, Tory Burch, Grant Cardone. Each of these individuals are unique in how they created their businesses, the struggles and the eventual success. Jesus Christ, because He gave His life for me teaching me to be generous to others and also grow my talents, whether that is my money, my career or my family. My blueprint is to learn from my mistakes, let my past be my mentor, be ok taking a calculated risk, study the risk however if others don’t agree, you can still move forward, learn from others mistakes and successes, don’t reinvent the wheel, learn from a variety of books, learn from what is free. I constantly watch videos from all sorts of athletes, businesses, personal stories and ask a lot of questions. Don't be afraid to ask others for help or wisdom, be transparent.
What's your source of inspiration?
The belief in God, myself and that I am on the right path. I still believe in miracles. My children and grandchildren inspire me the most. I want to leave a legacy of a great work ethic and wise financial and business decisions. Other widows. 70% of widows become impoverished whether they receive finances or not because we are very vulnerable and sometimes at a disadvantage of wisdom if the husband has taken care of the financial decisions.
